ENG2D: This class finished Fahrenheit 451 and handed in their packages of questions and wrote a test on quotes along with a Journal. We started Catcher In the Rye with a Robert Burns poem, finding a few group members to help in finding answers and were given a presentation handout. For the next couple weeks, after Silent Reading their book Festival novel, the class will break into their work groups and answer their assigned questions for the novel. They will also be working on a Thesis topic, chosen by them, to be presented on May 13th. The questions can come in the day before or after.
ENG2P: This class finished the novel ZACK and will be writing their test on Friday the 23rd (as they decided). The test will cover the plot, characters and the themes we kept track of while reading. We will begin learning how to write a persuasive essay with a class example and moving towards their own topic.
ENG1P: This class finished the PIGMAN, wrote their test and for the most part had a good understanding of how our actions affect those around us. We are moving on to the next novel (also about teens). We are not only keeping track of the plot and characters but also having a look at how judging people by how they look or their station in life makes us narrow minded and shallow.

Week of April 6th - 9th
Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!!
ENG2D: This class continues to work on Fahrenheit 451 and understand the idea of censorship within a society. The class is working on a package of questions and are either researching, asking questions or referencing an allusions handout. The package is due next Friday.
ENG1P: This class has begun a novel called The Pigman, it is an interesting novel about a teen prank with a conscience. The class is keeping track of events from the novel in their own notes but we will be doing questions in class and looking at the issues facing the characters.
ENG2P: This class looked at their immediate family tree; mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, nan and pop and will be using that to understand the character in the next novel we will be studying together. It is a look at different cultures, racism, a little about history and having the strength of character to stand up for what is right.
