February 21st - March 2nd

HSP3M: This class is spending some time in the library to type and research a couple things together. Firstly, they are finishing the report on the movie "The Gods Must Be Crazy". Secondly, they are researching and typing up a report on a social scientist. We are back in the classroom on the 24th to review how anthropologists conduct research and look at sociologists and psychologists. This exploration will continue into next week and we will also look at an article in the paper that has an impact on anthropologists. We will present our social scientists to the class and finish next week with film about Dian Fossey.

ENG2D: This class is working on their speeches this week. They are getting peers to help them edit and give them a rough estimate of a grade. This information will be used to help them make corrections and get ready for the oral aspect of their speeches. Monday and Tuesday next week are the presentation days. Wed/Thur next week I will present examples of how partnerships/groups will be able to present their chapter(s) from "Lord of the Flies". I am presenting Chapter's 1, 2 and maybe 3 in completely different ways to demonstrate the possibilities they have available to them. The "Lord of the Flies" seminars will begin the following week.

ENG1P: This class is working on sentence structure by exploring run-on vs. choppy short sentences. In addition the class is reading various articles and answering questions and defining words from the text to expand their vocabulary. They will have a vocabulary test early next week and have been given plenty of warning to study for that. We will continue to work on Chapter #3 in the textbook and take up the questions in the class as a practice for Chapter #4 which will be submitted for marks.
