June 2012

We have come to the end of a great semester!!

HSP3M: This class has been given a set of review questions for the final examination, they are answering these questions during free time in class.  In the meantime, we will be addressing the anthropological look at violence in our society and how it impacts us.  We will examine the sociological effect of the Bystander by examining the Kitty Genovese story and we will look at the hockey violence issue.  The class will be given some time June 13, 14,and 15 to work on typing their summative work in the library.  Exam review for the course will be June 18 - 20 with the summative due to come in those days as well.  The exam for this class is June 21st at 9:00am.  Best of luck to all.

ENG2D: This class has started the novel "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas".  We are looking at the themes of innocence, friendship, obedience, humanity, prejudice and indifference.  These themes will also tie into the previously read novels from the class.  This novel is fairly short and the class should be able to get through it quickly.  Leaving the 11th for finishing, the 12th for library work on their summative project and the 13, 14,and 15 for presenting their summatives.  Review for the exam will occur on the 18 - 20 and the examinations begin on the 21st.  Best of luck to everyone.

ENG1P: This class is finished the play Romeo and Juliet and has viewed the modernized movie version of the play, they will then view a movie version of West Side Story and complete a movie comparison, this will be a look at technology and it's role in our society.  (Sometimes students don't feel they need to read a book if it exists as a movie).   We will finish off the semester with further work on non-fiction material, begin research on our summative of the 1600's (Romeo and Juliet time period), and complete an exam review before exams begin on the 21st of June.  A great number of students have caught up on missed work - congratulations to them and keep up the hard work for the month of June.  Best of luck to everyone on their examinations.
