ENG1P/1D
The first week of classes went very well for such a hot and enjoyable summer.
We have reviewed the parts of speech, punctuation, confused words and homonyms. Then we jumped right into the first unit; Narrative Voices.
Both classes start off very similar with the work load and expectations differing.
Next week we will continue to look at specific aspects of a Narrative (Setting, Characters, Point of View, Theme, Atmosphere and Conflicts). This all leads into the creation of each student's personal Narrative. They will have some practice telling stories in class by viewing images and identify story type, genre and mood and then move to creating a character or a setting by using our reviewed adjectives.
There will be lots of creativity and imagination needed for this first unit.
Enjoy being back to school.
HFN2O
The first week of class went very well. We have gotten to know the various utensils that are used in the kitchen as well as safety issues for the Food Labs. A list of general policies will be coming home to be signed as well, there are still a few students who have to pay their $20 course fee. We ended the week with some taste testing and guessing at products and prices but even the nervous students seemed to have liked at least one new food.
Next week we will review safety procedures with a couple handouts and get ready for a food lab on Friday. Groups for the first couple labs will be assigned by me until I can see that friend groups won't be a negative issue in the kitchen.
Enjoy being back to school.
