ENG1P: This class is working on Short Stories. We are reading 5 selections from the textbook in an effort to develop an understanding of Elements of a Narrative, Parts of a Narrative and Literary Terms. The class will also move towards the creation of their own narrative and will begin that process this week with a due date of completion at the end of the month (September 30th). We are off to a good start and after reviewing the parts of speech, confused words and punctuation we are right into the curriculum.
CHC2P: After reviewing some significant events prior to the 1900's in Canada to understand what is to come and to make sure the entire class has the same learning we are into the War this week, WWI to be exact. Between the textbook, some handouts and notes we are learning what extrodinary efforts were made by Canadians in Europe and at home during the war. The class took a Heritage Quiz to see how 'Canadian' smart they were and the class did pretty well, even knowing 1867 was our Confederation and that Newfoundland was the last province to join Canada - with a class as smart as this group, expect great things.
ENG2P: This class is developing an understanding of the Power of words. How words can hurt, heal, sway, and humour people. We are going to put words to the test over the next couple weeks. The class is preparing for a speech, 2 minutes of length, with a list of words at their calling. The class was given a list of 20 words, they will choose 5 in which to incorporate into their speech. We are developing a speech with Attention Getters, Examples, The Point and So What?? . The speech will be graded both orally and written as a 60/40 split and the date for Speeches will begin on the 27th of September.
Enjoy September and all the events that the school offers. Please feel free to ask for help academically or otherwise.
